This year at Spike TV’s annual VGA’s, From Software announced Dark Souls 2, the sequel to Dark Souls and spiritual successor to Demon Souls. Namco Bandai released the trailer on YouTube which you can view below. While most have met the ominous launch trailer with praise, a few are concerned about the niche market that the games have developed, specifically in being deliberately difficult and mysterious. Concern was risen when one of the games two new directors, Tomohiro Shibuya, spoke with Edge about the accessibility of the game saying, “I personally am the sort of person who likes to be more direct than subtle. [Dark Souls 2] will be more straightforward and more understandable.”
Now while what this means exactly is still not entirely clear, my bet’s are on the development of a less subtle story. More dialog may give more the main character more humanity, and no, I do not mean shards of the Dark Soul. Who knows though, maybe the furtive pygmy will come out of hiding to view the world she waited so long to create…Praise the Sun!
